In the heart of the Tijuca forest, in the middle of the abundant Atlantic forest, there is a restaurant that is a beautiful and cozy red house, with a wonderful winter garden, lounge with fireplace, allowing a candlelit dinner, in a romantic atmosphere. and where families and friends gather for lunch and also where children love to be in the middle of nature with so much beauty.
The restaurant was the former residence of Baron D’escragnolle, who continued the reforestation of the forest with native and exotic trees, lakes and springs of incomparable beauty.
Conceived since 1945, it serves a generation of satisfied customers with its service with a delicious menu and a bucolic air of peace conveyed by nature and the restaurant.
●BEGINNING OF THE STORY
In 1942, the Italian Hugo Busca landed in the port of Rio de Janeiro, coming from Turin (Italy) with the reputation of a great chef.
After hosting several dinners for Rio’s high society, he met Getúlio Vargas in 1944, the following year he won the concession to explore the restaurant that was to be opened from where the Tijuca forest administrator’s house was.
In 1945, he named the house “Os Esquilos”, successfully starting the history of one of the most traditional restaurants of our city.
Frequented by prominent figures, he had among his clients the wonderful Clarice Lispector.
From 1986, her daughter Anna Paula Busca was in charge of the restaurant and today, alongside her husband, they manage the restaurant with great skill and sympathy.
