Police are warning motorists that part of the road from Darliston to Whithorn has been cut off.
Police said in a statement that as a result of the development, motorists traveling in the area should expect delays or use alternative routes where possible.
Residents have blocked parts of the road in the past to protest the deplorable conditions of the road.
