Royal Caribbean COVID-19 Vaccine Requirement Dropped, With a Caveat

The cruise industry has come a long way since the shutdowns of 2020. So far, in fact, that industry giant Royal Caribbean is dropping its COVID-19 vaccine requirement now. At least, on some cruises.

According to The points guy, the cruise line is doing away with adult requirements on some itineraries, which means you’re not completely in the free and clear. On September 5, Royal Caribbean is planning to remove vaccination requirements outside ports in California, Louisiana, Texas and all ports in Europe. However, the mandate will remain in effect for other countries and states, such as Florida.

However, passengers will still need to show proof of vaccination to disembark in the popular destination of Grand Cayman.

“We are working with local governments throughout the Caribbean to adapt vaccination requirements for additional itineraries,” Royal Caribbean said in the statement. “It is important that all our guests enjoy their experience at each destination, while also meeting local measures.”

Royal Caribbean’s sister brand Celebrity Cruises has similarly removed vaccines for some cruises while Norway Cruise Line, Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Oceania Cruises have also recently announced the end of vaccine mandates.
