While Guerreiras is the first all-female partnership in a Grupo Especial samba school, prioritizing community and inclusion.
With a strong refrain, “Ser Portelense is the most beautiful heritage”, the Guerreiras compete for the anthem of 2023, the centenary year of Portela, which was very well received and already classified in the first and second round. The objective of this 100% organic partnership is to exclusively use female strength, inspiration and work in samba plot disputes.
“We don’t exclude men, we just give priority to women, because many still don’t have the experience of real samba spaces and have difficulties in employment, especially in the music segment. It’s about inclusion, occupying spaces where certain activities by women cause strangeness and are still seen as exotic”, Guerreiras explain.
Of the seven composers, four are singers and champion samba on stage. Meri de Liz, Rozzi Brasil, Ana Quintas, Simone Lyns, Sandra Portella, Andréa Moreira and Dayse do Banjo believe in this samba, beautiful, happy, light and that pleases everyone.
Samba das Guerreiras will return to the court of Portela, on 11/09, in search of its dream – the choice of samba to represent this school, which is a Brazilian historical and cultural reference.
Meeting at 16:00, at the Office bar, next to the school, at Rua Clara Nunes, 43 – Madureira, RJ.
But for this final stretch, the Warriors really need help. Any amount will make a big difference in making this happen (Pix [email protected] – Rosimeri – Pagbank)
