The fourth annual San Antonio International Black Film Festival (SABIFF) is a four-day event that highlights the talents of Black filmmakers and television series from around the world.

This year’s events will move between venues including the Carver Community Cultural Center, St. Philip, the Magic Theater and the Carver Public Library, with some taking place virtually.

Thursday’s opening night will begin with an episode of the Disney+ animated series Proud Family: Louder and prouder. SABIFF will then present Bruce W. Smith, the show’s creator and executive director, with its 2022 Ankh Achievement Award.

Performances, workshops, panels and parties will fill the next three days. Some of the 58 films screened during the festival include linesa short story from Egypt; Black Daddy: The Movie, a documentary from California; AND Great man Danan animated short film from Trinidad and Tobago.

“SABIFF 2022 will open your eyes, minds and hopefully inspire action for budding or suppressed talent [to] reinvent yourself,” said Ada M. Babineaux, SABIFF’s founder and director, in a statement on the festival’s website. “If you naturally gravitate toward writing, drawing, IT, computing, graphic arts or gaming skills, this festival is for you. .”
