Scotiabank and the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board on Friday March 4 launched the Scotiabank NextGen Cricket Development Program 2022.
Tailored to the country’s under-15 and under-13 cricketers, the $300,000 TT program seeks to develop players holistically both on and off the field of play, providing essential tools for life skills.
The 11 module program which will be delivered before, on and after the tour, includes time management, goal setting and problem solving, child protection in youth programs, leadership and communication, nutrition (focusing especially on foods and West Indian dishes), mental health and wellness, financial management, anti-doping and drug abuse, visualization and discipline, fair play and citizenship and public speaking and media management.
Program facilitator Brendon Ramlal said: “Player progress and growth in the program will be tracked using a blended learning approach, designed with a specific focus on key performance indicators that are outlined for each module.”
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, players have had to endure a two-year hiatus. TTCB will showcase the program during the Scotiabank NextGen U15 tournament with Pre-Tournament modules starting on Saturday March 4th and In Tournament modules starting after the first match on Friday March 11th. The tour ends on Friday 25th March.
The U13 group will start in May.
Peter Ghany, Director of the Scotiabank Foundation, said: “At Scotiabank, we understand that long-term social and economic prosperity in our communities depends on future generations. When young people in the community succeed, families, businesses and entire societies are positioned to benefited for years to come.”
Players participating in the 2022 Scotiabank NextGen U15 Development Program will compete for selection to the Trinidad and Tobago U15 National Team. Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board President Azim Bassarath has indicated that the West Indies U15 Championships will be held in Antigua during the month of July 2022.
