Shenseea Reminds Us Beenie Man & Bounty Killer Had Greatest Verzuz Of All Time

Shenseea might be a bit biased when she called Beenie Man and Bounty Killer the best Verzuz of all time.

The hit-for-hit live show may be going through some legal trouble right now with Swizz Beatz and Timbaland suing Tiller for $28 million, but we can’t forget the massive culture change Verzuz brought us at the height of the pandemic when no one he was performing live and everyone was at home.

In what started as a live Instagram clash, usually between two artists of the same genre and era, Verzuz has turned into an entire movement. Beenie Man and Bounty Killer were a big part of the catalyst that saw Verzuz become a household name and a multi-million dollar business. Co-founders Swizz Beatz and Timbaland previously admitted that the two dancehall legends set the tone and helped make the show more appealing for other music legends to appear.

Like most of us who are avid fans of dancehall music and these two greats, Shenseea did not hesitate to remind her fans of the historic showdown. “Beenie Man and Bounty Killer had the best Verzuz battle ever,” she tweeted over the weekend.

Hardly anyone disagreed with Shenseea’s statement, and in case you had any doubts, just take a look at the reactions to her tweet. “I’ve seen this fight 10 times and it’s not even close, this fight was just about culture and beyond if you know you know,” one fan wrote.

Some fans are now calling for another round of Beenie and Bounty or maybe a Sean Paul and Shaggy Verzuz. Sean Paul had previously expressed his disinterest in a Verzuz, saying he’s not a fan of crash culture. Although he seems to have a change of heart for Verzuz, he has yet to sign a deal to go up against Shaggy. However, he recently revealed that he and the dancehall legend talked about it.

Shenseea is currently working on her second album to be released next year. Meanwhile, her debut project Alpha has been streaming heavily, making him one of the top Jamaican streaming artists on Spotify. Her new project hasn’t been given a title yet, but she promised it will be something completely different from what we’ve heard from her.

Perhaps Shenseea herself will consider a challenge of her own to Verzuz. The big question is, who would she go up against?
