Trinidad and Tobago batsman Lendl Simmons has announced his retirement from international cricket.
Simmons, 37, won the ICC T20 World Cup in 2012 and 2016 with West Indies during an international career that spanned 2006-2021.
He represented West Indies in 144 international matches, scoring 3,763 runs.
Simmons informed Cricket West Indies of his decision on Monday.
“I wish to officially announce my withdrawal from internationals with immediate effect. I would like to sincerely thank CWI for the opportunity to play international cricket, which I was fortunate enough to do over several years and in the process fulfill my childhood dream of representing the West Indies cricket team,” he said in the letter. .
“I would like to wish CWI and the respective teams all the best and I will continue to cheer from the stands as well as continue to play a positive role in the development of our future players our future stars within my community,” added Simmons.
Simmons’ retirement follows former team-mate Denesh Ramdin, who bid farewell to international cricket on Friday.
