Jamaican sprint queen Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has put together one of the most remarkable seasons in track history, after dominating the 100m at the World Championships and setting a number of tough times, she is just one target away, to keep. fast running.
Earlier this week, the sprinter clocked 10.62 at the Monaco Diamond League meet. The time was the athlete’s best this season and just two hundredths of a second off her personal best. Even more notable was the fact that the performance marked the sprinter’s 6thth Time under 10.7 this season, the most by any female athlete in history.
Despite everything she has achieved so far, the sprinter is not yet ready to end the season.
“To be able to consistently run 10.6 means a lot to me. It is outstanding. It’s very difficult to maintain speed at this high level,” said Fraser-Pryce.
“It’s important for me to put in fast times because I’m looking forward to having a great season,” she added.
“I’m in my late thirties and I think I have more to give. I’m looking forward to doing my personal best for the rest of the season and running fast.
“As a sprinter, you always want to run in the fast lane. The only goal I have for the rest of the season is just to run fast. Now, we break and then come again. I’m not sure about Lausanne yet.”
With five races to go, Fraser-Pryce is also in contention for the Diamond League 100m title.
