A new technology for skin treatment has come to the market, it is the new device Smartxide2, a fractional CO2 laser combined with radiofrequency. Heralded as one of the best skin treatment techniques, the CO2 laser has been used in medicine for decades.
Recently, this method has been improved for fractional action, creating Micro Thermal Zones (MZT) for the penetration of beams into the deepest layer of the dermis. This feature reduces recovery time and exposes the dermis for better radiofrequency action, which is considered the main way to treat laxity without visible injury.
SmartXide2 applications range from the facial region, such as minimizing fine wrinkles, acne scars and droopy eyelids, to body scars or stretch marks on the chest and buttocks. “In addition, in some cases there is also the possibility of eliminating facial wrinkles by planning sessions in advance. Lumps on the buttocks and chest, a constant complaint in clinics, have very evident results”, explains dermatology Dr. Tathiana Antony.
There are no age group restrictions for performing SmartXide2 treatment, however, assessment is necessary to determine the number of sessions. Usually, there are two to three sessions, lasting twenty to thirty minutes, every 30 days.
For each application, topical, oral and eventually injectable anesthetics are administered for better patient comfort. In addition, analgesia is performed with other devices that act by cooling the treated area. In the recovery phase, routine activities can be carried out normally despite the redness of the skin for about three days.
The use of SmartXide2 can also be combined with dermal filler procedures, a combination of volume replacement with a permanent product and even a skin-contracting laser, both of which work to stimulate collagen in addition to re-volumizing the face.
