NEWARK, NJ – Students at a Newark elementary school recently capped off their academic year with a smile-inducing “carnival of kindness.”
Students and staff at Franklin School – located in the city’s northern suburbs – held the carnival before taking a break for the summer holidays.
The celebrations involved students creating videos that included “kindness” in the form of a dance, song or poem. Results were compiled and broadcast live at the end of the day.
Classes at the school also completed 100 acts of kindness, which were documented on a poster and displayed at the carnival, where Year 6 and Year 7 pupils set up stations for young pupils to take part in a range of games that revolved around the theme of the event.
“We are so excited for our students to display and express the acts of kindness they have learned, and they are really looking forward to the fun they will have at the Carnival of Kindness,” Principal Amy Panitch said before the festivities.
“It’s a meaningful way to end our school year that will encourage students to continue promoting their acts of kindness throughout the summer,” Panitch said.
