Sons of Italy Italian Feast & Carnival returns following pandemic hiatus

The Blauvelt Sons Of Italy Italian Carnival & Party is back in Tappan this weekend after a two-year hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event at German Masonic Park in Tappan features legal gambling along with more than two dozen vendors serving Italian flavors and selling Italian goods.

There are games and rides for the kids and live entertainment and drinks for the adults too

Organizers describe it as a county fair with an Italian flair, and they’re finally back to celebrate their 11th year after the pandemic hiatus.

They say a large portion of the money from the event goes to fund several charities, scholarships and more.

“From Orangetown my whole life and it brings the community together, and you see people you haven’t seen in years, and I know people who have come from Europe for this,” says Bill Barbera, president of Blauvelt Sons Of Italy. Rockland Lodge 2176.

“Our proceeds all go to charities and non-profits, so it’s “really rewarding to see people come out here and have a good time and make the donations that we do,” says Sons Of Italy Italian Feast director of entertainment Paul Borghese.

Organizers say they are expecting 40,000 people to attend the event, which continues Saturday and Sunday at noon.
