“Defend We Culture” is the theme of Sound Forge’s Season 22 Carnival Presentation, a series of seven shows featuring the likes of David Rudder, Preedy and the Freetown Collective.
The experience will also feature traditional carnival characters, soca artists, calypsonians and a carnival village.
Performances begin on February 22 with Freetown Collective and run throughout Carnival week culminating in David Rudder’s High Mass on Carnival Monday, February 28.
Sound Forge will partner with the Port of Spain City Corporation for a fusion of pan and calypso for Carnival on Friday, February 25. Also headline shows are Preedy and 3 Channel with the popular A-Team commanding Saturday’s offering.
“We know this isn’t an ideal situation, but we’ve felt like we’ve missed so much over the past two years as not only us, but the world has had to adjust to our ‘new normal.’ We saw a unique opportunity to leverage our facilities at Sound Forge to protect its culture and magic in this time against oblivion, while protecting it for generations to come through our Season 22 offering,” said the Communications Consultant. of Sound Forge, Leisel Douglas.
Sound Forge is a verified safe area and preparation work is ongoing to facilitate the events.
“We did Kes last year so a lot of what we need is already in place. Sites will be socially distanced, hygiene stations will be available throughout the site, proof of vaccination for entry is a must, and we intend to go below even what is considered a safe capacity for the site,” Douglas said.
All information will be posted on the Sound Forge Instagram account @sound.forge.
