Spring has taken a double whammy with both Uncommon James and Kibou kicked out of the carnival.
The unusual James, who looked set to take everything in front of him in the coming months, was axed by managers Steve O’Dea and Matt Hoysted on Tuesday morning.
“Unfortunately we have suffered a small setback with Uncommon James, presenting with minor fillings in his near front,” a firm statement said.
In addition, three-year-old forward Kibou has also been ruled out with trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott confirming the scratch will require surgery on his front knee.
“Co-trainer Adrian Bott reported to the Racing NSW Stewards that KIBOU has been found to have bone chips in his near front knee which requires surgery,” Racing NSW said.
“Mr. Bott confirmed that Kibou will undergo surgery soon and then be written up. As a result, Kibou will no longer compete during the spring.”
Kibou scored a runaway victory in Saturday’s Up And Coming Stakes and was aiming for the Golden Rose.
