Informing is the main function of the journalist, regardless of the segment: citizen, politics, economy, sports, entertainment and others. However, the time when information was consumed only by print and/or electronic media is gone. With the advancement of technology and the spread of social networks, previously used for personal relationships or entertainment, “doing journalism” has changed completely. Viewers, listeners and readers returned network users and thus became part of the audience of digital journalism, that is, a new one mode of operation of the profession.
With unprecedented tools at his disposal, the communicator is able to “play” with creativity when fulfilling his role. Tablets, Smartphones e Android are some of the platforms that are among the most used. Journalist Julianá Souza, for example, is a professional who also immigrated to online🇧🇷 Besides TV Max, Plural Programcommanded by her, transmitted through to YouTube since August.
Program instructions. Julianá explains that they are chosen based on topics that are growing, in everyday life and highlights digital content. He also adds that this is the main objective of Plural Programs: to be an unbiased, important communication project that serves Brazilian families and brings a lot of culture to everyone. “My team and I strive to provide the best for our followers Plural Lovers, as I lovingly call them. They like the threads and send us messages. We have more comments than suggestions! But, of course, criticism is always welcome! Very important, because we don’t get it right every time”.
The “gift” of journalism. Julianá comments that, today, there are countless opportunities to communicate and it is not necessarily the act of a journalist. She shows that she has Blogs in which citizens approach different topics; and its channels to YouTube in which endless content is published; without forgetting Instagramor APPLICATION of photos that opened the doors for “influencers”, who make their opinions about everything clear. “I don’t believe that journalism ends. However, in this digital boom, journalists have to reinvent themselves in the market. In the past, only newspapers, magazines and radios reported. Now, total transformation! Digital is here to stay, due to the advent of technology, changing behavior and even access to information. I think it’s great! It is essential that professionals pay attention and be able to adapt to new developments, for reasons of survival.
barriers. Although there are some themes, they become “finite” from daily repetition in publications. Currently, a variety of information is required. However, there are risks of falsehood (reality) of what happened, which is not allowed and has never been allowed in the journalistic field. “We are surrounded by incorrect news. Therefore, it is necessary to have experienced and trained journalists to ascertain the reliability of the vehicles and facts mentioned.
The digital world and fake news
In the digital world, Fake news are present. Today, the circulation of “fake news” is common sites and “mass” sharing of these in messaging apps: WhatsApp e telegram🇧🇷 Julianá clarifies that there is no way to be excluded and that the disclosure propagates lies that will interfere with the seriousness of the events, which are conveyed to society, in addition to emotionally damaging the lives of others. “It is valuable that the communication agencies, together with the appropriate portals and journalists, strictly seek the authenticity of the information, so that there is quality and, above all, credibility in the work”.
Julianá’s tips for not falling for Fake News
Check that the information is complete, that is, it is not just a speech fragment or a video clip, taken from a real scenario.
Do a search on social media, digital media, to see if anyone else is talking about it.
Favoring Fake news. “Only people with bad intentions, sensationalists, those who are not committed to responsibility for what they say, benefit; for the brown press, for opportunists who aim to gain space and, in this way, unravel true facts about someone, a scenario or a situation. Unfortunately, we are surrounded by people, agencies and broadcasters who play this role. So, I say: only information is capable of fighting disinformation”, concludes Julianá.
