CLEMSON, SC – Ousmane Sylla was named the ACC Player of the Week for this week, the conference announced Tuesday. He also earned CollegeSoccerNews.com National Player of the Week honors. The Senegal native scored the tying and game-winning goals in Clemson’s 3-2 win over No. 13 Indiana on Aug. 26.
Sylla is coming off a stellar sophomore season in which he played in 22 games, tallying five goals and seven assists en route to being named a member of the All-ACC second team. In two games this season, he has been sensational on the offensive end, scoring twice against Indiana and assisting on Tim Strobeck’s goal against USC Upstate.
Sylla’s elite dribbling and vision has been a key weapon for the Tigers, and he figures to play a crucial role in the team’s offense throughout the season. This marks the junior’s first ACC Player of the Week award.
The Tigers will return to action against rival South Carolina on Friday, September 2nd at 7:00 PM in Columbia, SC. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
