QUEEN’S Park Cricket Club (QPCC) and Central Sports, who played in the last Premier Sports and Culture 50-Overs final on Sunday, top their respective groups when the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board T20 Festival begins, on on thursday.
Parkites will be bidding to add the T20 trophy to their cabinet. Group B will also include QPCC 2nd XI, PowerGen Penal SC and Preysal SC.
Central Sports will have revenge on their mind but first they have to get out of Group A consisting of Profilbau Victoria Utd, Clarke Road Utd and Alesco Comets SC.
Two matches will be played each day at the National Cricket Center in Balmain, Couva from 11:00 am and 3:00 pm respectively.
In the first match on Thursday, Central Sports will face Profilbau Victoria Utd while in the other match, Clarke Road Utd will face Alesco Comets.
Premier II clubs will also be part of the T20 festival.
On Wednesday, the respective winners of the four Premier II groups will battle it out in their semi-final round of the competition.
The overall winners of the Premier I T20 Festival will collect $80,000, while $40,000 will go to the runners-up. The losing semifinalists will receive $15,000 each.
The Premier II champions will earn $40,000 and the runner-up team will receive $20,000. The losing semifinalists will each collect $10,000.
On May 13, the finals of the Premier I and Premier II divisions will be played.
