Jalandhar: Talent Carnival 2022 was organized by Apeejay College of Fine Arts for new college entrants. All stage items – instrumental music – percussion and non-percussion, vocal music, dance – solo, Bollywood, fusion and bhangra and theater items – skits and mimicry were developed. Principal (Dr) Neerja Dhingra expressed her happiness to see a great array of talent. She congratulated Dr Arun Mishra, Dr Amita Mishra, Dr Vivek Verma and Dr Manisha Sharma for organizing the event.

Harmandeep declared Miss Fresher

To explore the talent of its young scholars, Kanya Maha Vidyalaya organized a mega event in the form of ‘Talent Fiesta’ 2022. The chief guest, Chairperson (Prof) Atima Sharma Dwivedi, was felicitated with flowers on the occasion. The program included competitions in various categories dealing with drama, music, dance, literary articles, among others. Students showcased their myriad skills in items like skits, choreography, group performances. Solo performance was seen in items like modeling, dancing, fancy dress, quizzes, pictures, debates, etc. While congratulating the award winners in various categories, Principal Dwivedi emphasized the need for such programs that extend learning beyond the classroom. Harmandeep Kaur won the title-Ms Fresher, Harshita-Ms Graceful, Pawandeep Kaur-Ms Elegant and Gagandeep Kaur-Ms Confident.

Celebrate Diwas Hindi

Gurukul School celebrated Diwas Hindi. To commemorate and celebrate the popularity of the Indian language, a special assembly was organized to mark the day. Retro-singing, poster making, poetry, debating competitions and cultural programs were conducted. School Principal Sushma Handa and Principal Radha Gakhar congratulated the students.

3-day festival to mark Engineers Day

Apeejay Institute of Management and Engineering Technical Campus celebrated Engineers Day with much enthusiasm to commemorate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Vishweshvaraya, India’s first civil engineer. Three days of celebrations were held. The first day began with an inaugural address in which Director (Dr) Rajesh Bagga highlighted the contribution of engineers to social and economic development. Dr Bagga noted that engineers are the driving force behind technological progress and innovation. The speech was followed by the “Genius of Mathematics” contest. Students participated in various puzzles, riddles, crosswords based on reasoning and mental skills The first prize winners of the Mathematics Genius competition were Sujal (BTech I), Karuna (BTech I), Ajay (BCA I) and Priyanshu (BTech III). Dr Rajesh Bagga, Principal, distributed prizes to the winners of all the competitions in the valedictory session. Dr Bagga congratulated all the participants and winners for their performance.

A poetry recitation competition was held

A poetry recitation competition was organized by PCM SD College English Literary Society for Women on ‘Indian Poets Writing in English’. About 12 students from different streams enthusiastically participated in this competition. This competition was organized to give students an opportunity to showcase their presentation skills and develop their love for literature. In this competition Komalpreet of BA (Semester V) came first, Simran of BA (Semester V) came second and Ajmerunisha and Japleen of BABEd (Semester V) got third place. President Naresh Kumar Budhia, other honorable members of the management committee and Principal of the College (Dr) Pooja Prashar appreciated the students for their participation. She also appreciated the efforts of the Head of the English Department, Ujla Dada Joshi, for organizing such events for the overall development of the students.

Students excel in district games

On the third day of district level ‘Khedan Vatan Punjab Dean’ among boys in 21-30 age group skating, Jagdeep Singh was first in the four meter event, Harpreet Singh was second and Paramjit was third. In the 3000m race, Harpreet Singh took first place, Jagdeep Singh took second place and Paramjit took third place. District Skating Association President Dr Rashmi Vij encouraged all these players and inspired them to work even harder in future. Coach Dilbagh Singh Kahlon was also present on this occasion.

World Ozone Day has been marked

World Ozone Day was observed by students of Saint Soldier Divine Public School, Mandi Street, in which students painted faces on objects to protect the ozone layer, such as trees, plants, cleanliness, animals and birds. Students Nishtha, Rehan, Jasmine, Akhand Mishra and Manav among others pointed out that the biggest reasons for the damage to the ozone layer that protects the earth are the addition of fertilizers, cutting of trees, pollution. Vice President Sangeeta Chopra asked everyone to celebrate Ozone Day by working to protect the ozone layer.

Seminar organized on Ozone Day

World Ozone Day was celebrated at MLU DAV College, Phagwara. College Principal (Dr) Kiranjeet Randhawa, students and faculty organized a workshop. Through speeches, discussions and statements, students observed that the depletion of the ozone layer is one of the main reasons for global warming, an invitation to rapid climate change. Dr Randhawa shared some of her ideas with the students regarding the preservation of the ozone layer.
