Tammy Beaumont’s record-breaking century powers England to an emphatic victory over Ireland in 2nd WODI

In a one-sided affair at Stormont, Women of England secured a comprehensive victory by 275 runs Women of Ireland in the second ODI of their three-match series. Experienced opener Tammy Beaumont played an unbeaten 150, her 10th ODI century, to power England to a mammoth 320/8 in their 50 overs.

Tammy Beaumont shines with record tone

Beaumont’s brilliant knock came off just 139 balls and included 16 fours and a solitary six. She became the first Englishwoman to score 10 ODI centuries, surpassing the favourites Nat Sciver-Brunt AND Charlotte Edwards. Her innings was the foundation for England’s imposing total as they opted to bat first after winning the toss.

Freya Kemp provided able support with a 47-ball 65 which included 7 fours and 2 sixes. The 19-year-old all-rounder has been in excellent form and her performances have shown her talent and potential.

Ireland’s youth team, with three players under 19, struggled to cope with the pressure exerted by England’s experienced attack.

Ireland came out for the small 45s

Chasing an impossible target, Ireland’s batting line-up crumbled under the pressure. They were finished for a paltry 45 in just 16.5 overstheir lowest ever ODI total. Kate Cross AND Lauren Filer were the main architects of Ireland’s downfall, both taking 3 wickets each.

The cross struck early, removing the skipper Gaby Lewis AND Amy Hunter on its first completion. Filer then joined the party, being dismissed Leah Paul AND Arlene Kelly at a cheap price. Davis and Kemp also chipped in with 2 wickets each as Ireland’s batting failed to put up any resistance.

Una Raymond-Hoey22 was the only significant score for Ireland as the rest of the line-up crumbled around her.

England seal the series with a free game

The win, England’s biggest in women’s ODIs by runs, sealed the series for the visitors with a game to spare. It was a predominantly second-string England side that achieved this result, with the majority of T20 World Cup Squad rested

Tammy Beaumont was named Player of the Match for her brilliant century. The third and final match of the series will be played on Wednesday at the same venue, with Ireland looking to salvage some pride and England looking to complete a whitewash.
