#Brazil, August 26, 2022 – Representatives from 10 Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries will participate in an international technical mission from August 29 to September 2. The mission is organized by the tripartite south-south cooperation project Consolidation of School Meal Programs in KNJ.
The objective of the mission is to promote the exchange of experiences and good practices that support capacitiesconstruction to strengthen the public policy for school feeding in the region.
Those participating in the mission are government representatives working in the field of school feeding from Brazil, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and members of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and University of the West Indies.
The school feeding project is part of the actions of the Brazil-FAO International Cooperation Program. It was jointly developed by the Brazilian Cooperation Agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (ABC/MRE), the National Fund for Educational Development of the Ministry of Education (FNDE/MEC) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). ).
During the five-day mission, participants will visit schools and cooperatives of family farmers located in the capital of Brazil, having the opportunity to talk with school food authorities and technicians, nutritionists, teachers, students and producers involved in the provision of local food. among other actors.
Participants will also be introduced to the implementation of Brazil’s National School Feeding Program. In addition, they will learn about the progress, challenges, concepts, guidelines, legal frameworks, objectives and implementation of school food policy at different levels of government (federal, state and municipal).
