Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly, Farley Augustine said THA will move swiftly to settle the outstanding gratuity and other additional payments within the assembly in due course.
Augustine was speaking in THA’s two-day meeting of executive and administrative heads at the Shaw Park Cultural Complex on Wednesday.
“Very soon we will introduce a strategy where you will receive your bonuses, your raises and your benefits from work and so on in the most efficient way,” he said.
According to Augustine, the THA also intends to look at a proposed strategy to liquidate and bring up-to-date and current gratuities and arrears for public officials as well.
“The goal is to bring it all up to date so that in the future we don’t try to deal with a big backlog like we see in some divisions like education, community development, youth development and sports.
“This also includes dealing with overtime payments for some categories of workers such as those in the tourism division and elsewhere,” he said.
In addition, Agustin noted that THA will also look at alternative ways of financing public projects.
“You will see us mobilized, using the PPP mode much more than in the past. Moreover, you will see THA in a very bold way, going out into the world and seeking investment and investors, attracting them to the Tobago space.
