TIME is fast moving towards Ledbury Carnival on August Bank Holiday Monday (29) plans are finally coming together for a day of fun for all ages.
With a range of new attractions in the Town Center and Bye Street Car Park, as well as traditional entertainment and stalls, it looks set to be the best carnival in years.
Now is the time to plan your Float and Fancy Dress entries, which can either be entered in advance, or by arriving on the day and completing an entry form.
Entries must be made at Ledbury Rugby Club by 10am to allow time for judging with the Procession leaving at 12pm to travel in convoy towards the town centre, arriving between 12.30 and 12.45pm.
Road closures will, of course, be necessary to ensure the safety of all involved.
The parade will leave the Rugby Club at 12pm and travel to the Full Pitcher Roundabout, before returning to New Street. This section of the route will be subject to a road closure. On reaching High Cross the Parade will turn left into the High Street and travel through the town and into Homend.
When it reaches the traffic lights from Tesco, it will take another left turn into Orchard Lane and travel to Ledbury Primary School, where it will park in the school car park.
A full road closure will be in place from 8am on High Street, Homend at the junction with Bank Crescent and Bye Street ending near the Nursing Home and Hospital.
This will last until 18:00. The remainder of the route will be subject to a road closure.
A park and ride service, provided by Voluntary Community Action, will operate from Hazel Meadow (opposite the Rugby Club) for a small charge.
An alternative route to Ledbury would involve following Leadon Way to the Hereford Road roundabout and turning right towards Ledbury.
The Carnival Association apologizes for any disruption this may cause and asks all drivers to drive with care and consideration for the residents of this area.
