It took me 3 months to figure out how to use Twitter properly.
You may find it difficult to grow on Twitter, it is difficult, but it can be an easy process if you learn from these mistakes.
Before you begin, building an audience organically is difficult on any platform. It’s not just content creation. Each platform has its own unique types of content and tasks you need to do. The first thing long-term growth mindset. It is not an overnight success.
Okay, I know you want to learn from these mistakes, so let’s get started.
Twitter is a platform that encourages the giving and receiving of content.
But first, you give, then you give more, and then you receive.
Interact with other accounts and add something of value to the comments section of their tweets.
If you regularly talk to at least 10-15 accounts, they will notice you.
I spent the first few days just thinking
- tweets I post
- the likes i get
- the comments I receive
It didn’t work well.
The best way to get people to pay attention is to engage with them.
Learn how they tweet.
Learn how they’re structuring their tweets
Bookmark those good tweets and rewrite them in your own language.
Learning from big successful accounts is the best thing I’ve learned so far.
DM stands for Direct Message
When I started I didn’t DM anyone, I was shy.
Twitter is the best networking tool, but it is never the most effective tool.
But today I DM great accounts that I inspire, I also get a lot of DMs, and if I can help them, I’m happy to help anyone.
Always give and be kind to others, don’t forget where you came from. People need your help, if they ask or if you find someone you can help, help them.
Helping people and seeing them grow is true happiness.
Bio means the description of yourself when you go to your profile.
Bio plays the most vital role in converting profile visits to followers.
In your Bio, you should answer these three questions:
- who are you
- What are you doing
- What do you expect from me?
Here is a sample Bio.
Threads are a series of tweets that follow each other.
It’s like a blog post on Twitter.
But if you’ve read a thread, you’ll find that people follow specific formats for giving threads, unlike blog posts. (in this story I am not going deep into the topic)
If you are over 1k spend time writing at least 1 topic per week but you have to provide value, if you can do this consistently you will get more engagement + more followers.
This is not something you want, this is not what you are working for.
Remember that getting more followers or likes is just dopamine, it has nothing to do with your actual growth.
If you are a person who wants to get more likes, retweets, comments and followers, you can easily get it by buying retweets and followers or using Twitter bots. But that’s not something you’re working towards.
What I’m showing you is to grow organically to build a high-engagement audience so you can make money later.
Learning how Twitter works, or how the Twitter algorithm works to get more likes is a waste of time.
Instead, focus on providing valuable content.
I bet you don’t need more than 6 months to feel the compound growth.
What is difficult is staying consistent and disciplined in the beginning.
Twitter offers free analysis of your accounts.
But if you’re a complete beginner, you don’t need to spend hours here.
Use Twitter analytics to find the tweets that get more engagement than others.
Here’s how to find the most engaging tweets:
- Go to Twitter Analytics > Tweets (at the top)
- Click Top Tweets.
This is why you find the tweets most engaging.
You can reuse it.
It’s okay to use it as it is, but try to improve it.
But if you are reusing it as is, use it after 1 or 2 months because your followers don’t want to see repetitive content.
I recently started using Twitter list, this is the best hack I learn to get them involved better.
Create a list and add the accounts you want to engage with so it’s easy for you to comment on those tweets.
And if you’re using apps like Tweet Hunter or Zlappo, you can only get their tweets (after eliminating their retweets) so it’s easy to get involved.
Here’s the difference between a list from Tweet Hunter(left side)and a list from Twitter(right side)It seems.
These are the 10 biggest mistakes I made when starting my Twitter journey.
