The public will be able to find approximately 1,500 pieces belonging to the comedian Mario Fortino Alfonso Moreno Reyes, “Cantinflas”, also known as the “Mexican Charles Chaplin”.
Among these collections are unpublished photographs taken by Adolf Hitler’s photographer, personal clothing, glasses, as confirmed to Televisa by the widow of his only son Mario Moreno Ivanoa Tita Marbez. “I am surprised by the collection of the author’s photos, it seems to me that they have a double value, because of the author of the photo I believe that in one of them is a photographer who took the photos of Hitler, so they already have a double historical burden , Don Mario, where the author came from, from the history of the author and there are very cool copies,” he said. “Cantinflas’ things belong to no one but the people of Mexico and the idea is to make them available to the people,” she added.
Derbez has not confirmed what the museum will be called or in which area of Mexico City it will be located. Although it is estimated that the official inauguration will take place in 2023, commemorating the 30th anniversary of his death.
In this way, Cantinflas will join other Mexican artistic figures who also have a museum, such as the painter Frida Kahlo or the singer Selena Quintanilla, considered the queen of Tex-Mex.
