Washington, DC (Sonic Solutions) – The vibrant spirit of the Caribbean will come alive as the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia area prepares to host the exciting 5-day, 6-event festival known as Hookie Weekend. As always, the much-anticipated annual celebration promises to immerse attendees in its rich cultural heritage with its creative 2024 J’ouvert and Mas experiences.
On June 15, the beloved J’ouvert celebration ‘J’ouvert Lion Pride’ will feature great joy in the mud, paint and dust. Attendees are encouraged to join the early morning fun at Rosecroft Raceway from 7am and embrace the freedom and fun of this traditional street party. This year the drinking event is themed “Soca Wars” and will bring the intergalactic J’ouvert atmosphere to all in attendance.
Seen by many Hookie Weekend devotees as the highlight of the festival, ‘Riddim & Road’ which takes place on June 16 at Rosecroft Raceway from 2pm will once again showcase the creativity of the costumes.
The 2024 theme for the DJ-led, drinks-inclusive affair is “Rise of the Phoenix” and, like the mythical golden bird associated with renewal and regeneration, patrons are asked to remix their costumes from past carnivals or buy one of The original, exclusive Riddim. & Road’ mas costumes by K. Adoree Ent which appear on HookieLife Entertainment’s website.
