LYNN HAVEN, Fla. (WMBB) – Residents from all over Bay County got a fright at Sharon Sheffield Park Monday night.
Lynn Haven’s annual Halloween carnival had an impressive turnout as children got into the trunk or to enjoy candy.
“I highly recommend everyone come out here,” resident Ayanna Morgan. It’s very fun, family oriented. Everyone is happy, having fun and dancing on stage. I highly recommend it.”
Officials estimate there were at least 5,000 people there and said they wouldn’t be surprised if it ended up being more than 8,000.
Lynn Haven Mayor Jesse Nelson said the night’s top priority, aside from entertainment, is safety.
“We just want to make sure our families that come out have safe treats, safe fun,” Nelson said. And you just have a lot of opportunities to play games, join our community. And that’s what we’re excited about tonight. We are estimating at least 5,000 coming tonight. And so we’re very excited that the community is really showing up and enjoying it.”
Dozens of community organizations set up trunks for children to receive Halloween treats. The carnival also featured games, food trucks, and even ax throwing.
“In the grand scheme of things for Lynn Haven, we try to make sure we have events that are family friendly, events that everyone can come out and enjoy, that you don’t have to leave our town to attend. rich fun,” Nelson said. “Tonight, we’re not competing against other neighborhoods, but we’re actually bringing the neighborhoods to us.”
Mayor Nelson anticipates the 2022 carnival to be the biggest yet, and he hopes next year will be even bigger.
