CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s tennis team has announced the addition of Leigh Van Zyl for the spring 2023 season. She hails from South Africa and will look to make an immediate contribution to head coach Christy Lynch’s program.
“We look forward to Leigh joining the program this January,” said Lynch. “In my first initial conversations with Leah, it was clear that she had a real love for the game. She is a person of high character, an excellent student, and has a strong desire to excel both on and off the court, which makes her a great fit for our program!”
Leigh comes to Clemson as the top ranked U18 youth player in South Africa reaching a career high ITF World Youth Ranking of #125. Leigh has won five ITF Junior singles titles over the past two years and reached the final of the African Junior Championships in Tunisia last spring. Leigh has also won eight ITF Junior doubles titles over the past two years. Last year, Leigh also represented South Africa in the Fed Cup competition.
