WINSTON SALEM, NC – On the first day of competition at the 2022 ITA Regionals held at Wake Forest University, Clemson had three doubles pairings advance to the second round of play. Sophia Hatton/Dani Medvedeva, Jenna Thompson/Samantha Buyckx and Cristina Mayorova/Eleni Louka each won their match on Thursday.
Hatton and Medvedeva, competing in the A1 doubles draw, defeated their Coastal Carolina opponent 8-2. The two had never played together, as Hatton was out for most of last season with injury. They will compete Friday against NC State’s Miller/Najecki duo.
Competing in the A2 draw, Thompson and Buyckx won a close match against a team from Charleston Southern, 8-7 (7-2). Thompson and Buyckx were 2-2 as a pair last season and will play the Davidson pairing of Schafer/Patel on Friday.
Mayorova/Louka won Thursday’s match 8-6 against the duo of Hollins/Steryous in Coastal Carolina. They take the court Friday against Tuliakova/Bertran De Belanda of Queens University.
After doubles play on Friday morning, Buyckx, Hatton, Louka, Mayorova, Medvedeva and Thompson will be in action in singles play beginning at 12:30 p.m.
