GREENVILLE, SC – Clemson’s cross country team competed in the Furman Invitational Meet on Saturday morning. Both teams ran the 5k, with the women finishing third and the men runner-up.
Freshman Maddie Dinneen again shined for the Tigers, crossing the finish line 13th overall and first on her team with a time of 17:39.33. Freshman Madison Roush finished behind her in 16th place, while Brynne Sumner was the third Tiger to finish the race and 22nd overall.
For the men, Sawyer Dagan finished fifth overall with a time of 14:42.57. He was closely followed by Marlin Young, who finished the race in 14:46.37 for a sixth place finish. Daniel Sullivan rounded out the top 10 with a time of 15:11.05.
“I’m super impressed and happy,” head coach Vicky Pounds noted of the team’s performance. “I think everybody went out there and competed. Both Furman teams are nationally ranked and I felt we competed well.”
Next time, The Tigers will travel to Louisville, Ky. for the Live in Lou meeting on Saturday, October 1st. The team has two games left before the ACC championship meet on Oct. 28.
