KENNESAW, Ga. – The Clemson cross country team got its season off to a hot start at the Kennesaw State Dual Meet on Friday night. Freshman Maddie Dinneen won the women’s 4k while Marlin Young finished first in the men’s 6k as each team had the top three finishers in their respective races.
Dinneen’s time of 14:03.11 was dominant in the 4k as she crossed the line over 25 seconds ahead of runner-up Brynne Sumner. Clemson picked up third and fourth, and Courtney Farishian and Madison Roush were quick to follow Sumner. Makenzie Steele finished ninth overall with a time of 14:43.22.
Young led the way in the men’s 6k, completing the course in just 18:46.59. He was followed by Sawyer Dagan and Daniel Sullivan, who completed the top three for the Tigers.
“I was impressed to see how well both teams worked together in the competition,” said coach Vicky Pounds. “It was a great start to the season and I can’t wait to see how they perform at Furman.”
The Tigers will return to action on September 17th when they head to the Furman Invitational in Greenville, SC
