Condolences have been poured in following the passing of veteran masker and master Peter Archer, who died on Monday.
The THA Division of Tourism, Culture, Antiquities and Transport was among those who paid tribute to Archer.
In a statement, the Division recalled Archer’s portrayal of the authentic Indian mas.
The statement said: “Known for his expertise in the fields of Traditional Mas, during his active years, Mr. Archer mainly portrayed elements of authentic Indian masses.
His bands won several carnival titles, including Tobago Medium Band of the Year in 2000 for their memorable portrayal of “Oklahoma” and again in 2001 for their artistic depiction of “Tribal Explosion”.
Tourism Secretary Councilor Tashia Burris, Assistant Secretary Assemblywoman Megan Morrison, Administrator Cherry-Ann Edwards-Louis and staff at the Division also joined in mourning Archer’s death, along with his loved ones and the island’s cultural fraternity.
