Trinidad and Tobago defeat Guyana in women’s Under-19 cricket

TRINIDAD and Tobago were victorious as matches resumed on Monday in the Cricket West Indies Rising Stars U-19 Women’s T20 tournament. TT emerged with a 40-run win over Guyana at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba.

TT could only muster 69 all out in the first 13.1 overs getting. Kenika Cassar scored 13 and Samara Ramnath scored 12.

Bowling for Guyana, Niveena Ramnauth took 3/10 in 2.1 overs and Trisha Hardat grabbed 3/19 in four overs.

Guyana struggled in their chase and were dismissed for 29 in 9.5 overs. Sarah Amin scored nine for Guyana. Shalini Samaroo was the best bowler for TT grabbing 3/7 in three overs.

Katrina Ruben (2/3) and Samara Ramnath (2/5) claimed two wickets each to help TT to a comfortable victory.

In the first match played at Brian Lara, the Windward Islands beat Jamaica by eight wickets.

At the Diego Martin Sports Complex, Barbados cruised past the Leeward Islands by 49 runs.

The penultimate round will be played on Tuesday and the final round on Wednesday with the teams fighting for the title.
