TRINIDAD AND Tobago open their Cricket West Indies (CWI) three-day campaign against defending champions Guyana at the Park Hill Playing Field in St Vincent on Tuesday from 10am.

The team, led by Rajeev Ramnath, arrived in St Vincent on Monday and was scheduled to undergo mandatory Covid19 testing ahead of the tournament.

TT will compete out of Group A alongside Guyana and the Leeward Islands. Group B includes Barbados, Jamaica and the Windward Islands.

The new Red Force squad is led by coach Amin Forgenie and manager Kerwin John.

Other first round matches see the Windwards take on the Leewards in Arnos Vale while Barbados take on Jamaica in Cumberland.

When the opening round ends on Thursday, CWI will host a personal development workshop for all competing territories on Friday. Teams will be allowed to hold training sessions on Saturday in preparation for the second round, which will take place on Sunday.

Only three rounds will be played and the top two from each group advance to the semi-finals.

TT manager John said the team is in good spirits.

“We had good team preparation. The coach did a lot of work with the boys. Lots of on-field practice, off-field class and mental sessions as well.

“When we leave the shores of the TT, it’s always to win. That’s why we put so much time and energy into our preparation,” he said.

TT Team: Rajeev Ramnath (captain), Andrew Rambarran (vice-captain), Narad Kissondath (goalkeeper), Zachary Siewah, Nick Ramlal, Vasant Singh, Jacen Agard, Joshua James, Ricardo Chase, Justin Jagessar, Kyle Ramdoo, Joshua Davis, Veer Ba Orlando James .
