Port of Spain, Trinidad, January 20, 2023: The NCC John Cupid Carnival Village, located on the east side of Carnival City, Queen’s Park Savannah, marks its return to the annual calendar of events with an opening ceremony and concert scheduled for Saturday . January 21 at 6:30 p.m. The village is part of the Trinidad and Tobago Carnival 2023.
The village will start on Saturday and continue for three weeks leading up to the Carnival weekend and will again prominently feature several shows as well as cultural treats for the public, showcasing some of the best in Pan, Mas, Soca Chutney, Calypso. , Tassa and the portrayal of traditional carnival characters.

The village was named after the historian and chronicler of carnivals John Gladstone Cupid, who died in 2017. It has now become a hub of activity with living exhibitions of photographs, costumes and historical artefacts on the origins and development of carnivals. Notably, there will also be a wide range of affordable, locally grown food and drink, as well as creative arts and crafts for sale.
This year, the NCC John Cupid Carnival Village has added several new events to its lineup, including special days for tourists and cruise ship visitors and the launch of a school visit program that will cater to high school children and primary from Laventille, Port of Spain. Carnival 2023 authorities said the Village is free and open to the public from 5pm to 11pm and will provide secure parking and security around the clock.
