Delaware State Police have arrested the 35-year-old Anthony Douglas of Berlin, Maryland on drug charges following a vehicle pursuit that occurred in the New Castle area earlier this morning.
On October 29, 2022, at approximately 12:37 a.m., a trooper on patrol observed a tan Chevrolet Impala traveling southbound on Pigeon Point Road approaching the intersection at Lambson Lane. The driver of the Impala failed to stop at the stop sign posted at this intersection, and the trooper attempted a traffic stop. However, the driver of the vehicle did not comply and a car chase ensued. The operator turned onto West Avenue and stopped in the Best Night Inn parking lot. The driver, later identified as Antwan Douglas, exited the vehicle and began to flee on foot. Troopers followed and took Douglas into custody a short time later. A search of Douglas led to the discovery of approximately 13.1 grams of crack cocaine.
Douglas was transported to Troop 2 and charged with the following crimes:
- Possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in a quantity of the second degree (felony)
- Possession of a controlled substance in a second-degree quantity (felony)
- Disobeying a police officer’s signal (criminal offence)
- Resisting Arrest
- Multiple traffic violations
Douglas was arraigned by Justice of the Peace #11 and released on a $5,700 unsecured bond. However, he was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $3,000 bond after being charged with two active Probation Violations.
