Twitter may be carrying out acts of government censorship under the banner of a private company. This is the basis of a lawsuit by Trump against the platform, which will examine whether its act of de-platforming Donald Trump when he was president of the United States was done at the request of the government.
According to Alex Kozinski, a former Ninth Circuit judge and a Trump lawyer on the matter, the lawsuit could have a sweeping impact on free speech. If it is found that Twitter was acting under government pressure, and if the court sees this as a form of state censorship, then such forms of censorship may be considered illegal.
