Trinidad and Tobago overcame a testing start to close on 216 for 5 in their West Indies Championship opener against the Windward Islands Volcanoes in Tarouba on Tuesday.
Imran Khan’s side lost three wickets for four runs which saw T&T slip to 22 for 3 in quick time.
However, a 112-run partnership between Jeremy Solozano (66) and Yannic Cariah (72) took the home side into a more comfortable position.
Joshua Da Silva (52 not out), who got a half-century just before the close of play, took T&T to 217 for 5 at the close.
However, the Red Force lost captain Imran Khan to a hamstring injury just before the close of play.
Khan earlier received an award from the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board to mark his 100th first-class match for Trinidad and Tobago.
