A firearm and six rounds of ammunition were recovered by police officers who responded to a report of men carrying weapons in St James on Monday.
On receiving information, Western Division Task Force officers went to Upper Aboud Circular, St James, where they began a foot search of the hillside community.
Soon after, they saw four men running from a wooden shed, according to a post on the police’s social media page. The officers chased them, but the suspects were able to escape.
A further search of the tracks and trail in the area led police to find a six-round .40 caliber handgun hidden among a woodpile.
The case is still being actively pursued, the police post said.
