Twitter Adds Paytm for Tips Payments

Social media platform Twitter will allow users to make Tip payments through Indian payment gateway Paytm, according to a report in The Hindu Business Line on Wednesday (February 16).

Twitter debuted the option for users to tip their profiles in May through a beta test with “influential and diverse voices on the service, including journalists, creators and more,” allowing people to send and receive money. Twitter rolled out the Tips to all users 18 and above in India in November last year.

Users can enable or disable Tips from the Edit Profile section of their Twitter accounts. To send money, users can tap the icon to see a list of payment services or platforms the account has enabled.

Tips can be sent as cash or bitcoin and are sent by Twitter through third-party payment services. Users who have Tips enabled have an icon next to their profiles.

“Through Paytm’s interface, people will be able to support individuals and organizations across India through multiple payment methods, including UPI, credit and debit cards, net banking, wallets and more,” Twitter said on his announcement.

Twitter added Razorpay as an additional payment provider for Tips in India last year. The Tips feature is available in many Indian languages, including Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi and Tamil.
