With Elon Musk taking over Twitter and putting the app in the spotlight, it looks like the platform is still going ahead with its upcoming updates. According to a source, the developers will introduce a new theme-based icon for Android 13 and will aim to take initiatives to rebrand its subscription service. Super Follow.
Dylan Roussel, digging deep into what Twitter is up to, has discovered that subscribing to Twitter Blue will instantly put a blue tick next to your username.
The app’s new owner has already announced that an updated version of Twitter Blue will return on November 29 after it became controversial at the time of its initial release for iOS users only.
Additionally, Dylan revealed that Super Follow is changing to subscriptions; however, it is not clear if any changes will be made to the way the service operates. Super Follows works by allowing users to subscribe to exclusive content that is not available to general users. However, these discoveries are still in the alpha phase and have a long way to go. Dylan also found clues to direct messages with end-to-end encryption enabled, which was also reported by another researcher.
Elon Musk has been calling for end-to-end encryption for a very long time, and now that he’s taken over the app, it looks like he might make it happen soon.
And finally, the themed icon feature is also being discussed. The advantage of this feature is that the Twitter icon will now be fully compatible with the user’s theme, so the app icon does not look different. This feature is already being offered by several apps and Twitter is ready to join the party.
It can be expected from the developers that with a new owner of this platform, users can see the ideas shared by Musk even before his takeover or after his takeover. It can also be expected that what Twitter had planned before Musk bought it will still be considered and worked on after receiving Musk’s approval.
