Flip flops and shorts are all we’re seeing these days on multiple platforms whether it’s Facebook and Instagram or shorts on YouTube and now it looks like Twitter is jumping on the bandwagon as well.
Twitter recently brought Instagram-like wraps to its feed, and users aren’t happy. The unlimited movement that can be done on Instagram in the form of scrolls can now also be done on Twitter, but only for iOS. This feature can be found in the explore section of the app as in Insta.
But, this has become a thing of the past because according to Taylor Lawrence who writes tech columns for the Washington Post, Twitter is now forcing wrap-like videos into the main feed. She posted a screenshot that featured reel-to-reel videos on the main feed as one of the people and topics one follows under the heading “Suggested Videos.”
Now this move by Twitter was very underrated because it felt like the feature was being forced on users and was taking away from the originality of the app and its uniqueness by being a blatant copy of TikTok which started this whole full screen video trend .
The app that broke out in 2020 when everything was on lockdown, TikTok offered its users a way to create short videos and put them in one place with a super easy user interface. When it began to attract the attention of users of all ages, other applications saw its main purpose as a feature that could help increase their income and thus we have Reels on Instagram and Facebook and Shorts on YouTube.
