Twitter’s Tip Jar feature may soon have an option for cryptocurrencies. An Italy-based developer named Alessandro Paluzzi shared screenshots of what the feature will look like after launch.
In a tweet, Paluzzi said: “Twitter is working on allowing you to add your Bitcoin and Ethereum address to your profile to receive tips through the Tip Jar feature.” Twitter had announced an update to the Tip Jar feature earlier this year.
Paluzzi, through a screenshot, tried to show how users will be notified about receiving tips through the social media site.
According to the screenshot, Twitter’s Tip Jar will use the Lightning Network to allow users to collect their payments in Bitcoin. Users will be able to collect tips in both Bitcoin and Ethereum, another screenshot suggests.
Twitter is using Strike services for Bitcoin payments.

Twitter product manager Kayvon Beykpour confirmed Paluzzi’s findings and said the company is working on the feature. Beykpour retweeted Paluzzi’s initial post, with a ‘coming soon’ emoji, hinting that the feature could be coming to the platform soon.

The successful launch of this cryptocurrency feature will mark the latest addition by Twitter in a series of moves designed to help creators on the platform find a source of income.
However, it is still unclear when the micro-blogging website plans to roll out its latest feature. Initially, it can only be rolled out to users in limited geographies as Twitter has done this in the past as well.
The latest development highlights the growing craze for cryptocurrencies as a means of payment or exchange of value. The numero uno digital token Bitcoin is now trading around $51,000, while Ethereum is only $4,000.
Once the Tip Jar feature is set on a profile, the user’s followers can support them by sending tips. Twitter had also announced that the Tip Jar feature would be made available in multiple Indian languages, including Hindi, Gujarati, Bengali, Kannada, Marathi and Tamil.
