Twitter is testing a Co-Tweet feature, according to mobile developer Alessandro Paluzzi and social media consultant Matt Navarra. Twitter later confirmed the news.
Both posted a test tweet, where both usernames are displayed and clickable over written content. The two authors’ names don’t seem to appear with embedded tweets yet, as you can see below.

According to tweets, users can send an invitation to “co-tweet”, which the invitee can then accept or decline. Basically, a user cannot add another person to a tweet without permission. If accepted, the written tweet will apparently appear on both users’ timelines.

These invitations appear in the notifications tab or in DMs. Navarre posted a screenshot which shows a pop-up message from Twitter, displaying the CoTweet request and also adding the stipulation that “you can remove yourself at any time” from the tweet.
Twitter contacted Mashable and said the feature will be available for a limited time to “select accounts in the US, Canada and Korea.” IN a blog post from the companyTwitter explained that only two authors can write a tweet together.
