Brazil’s unemployment rate fell to 8.7% in the third quarter. This is the lowest percentage since the May-July 2015 quarter, when it recorded the same rate.
The IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) published the result this Thursday (October 27).
The percentage of unemployed has decreased by 0.6 percentage points compared to the second quarter of the year.
Compared to the same quarter of 2021, when it was 12.6%, the rate fell by 3.9 percentage points.
The number of unemployed fell to 9.5 million, the lowest level since the fourth quarter of 2015.
It fell by 6.2% in the second quarter of this year, which corresponds to 621,000 people.
There are 4 million less unemployed in a year.
The data are part of the Continuous National Household Sample Survey (Pnad Contínua).
