Well, “Unlocking Investment Opportunities: How and When to Raise Money from Investors for Your Startup” – is the topic of the next Kingston BETA event on Thursday, July 6, at the AC Hotel Kingston.
In an interactive fireside chat, guest speaker Melissa Pegus, Managing Director of Techstars Atlanta & New Orleans Powered by JP Morgan will share invaluable insights and insights with moderator Ingrid Riley, founder of SiliconCaribe and Kingston BETA, all of which . She will also answer questions from both entrepreneurs and investors.
Pegus, who has Trinidadian roots, is a career startup operator turned global investor and has held leadership positions resulting in seven company acquisitions and focuses on startups that are building the future of Commerce, Consumer, Climate Technology and the Economy of the Creator.
Additionally, Pegus is a key leader in Techstars, which is the world’s largest pre-startup and seed investor, Techstars has invested in more than 3,500 early-stage startups. And it’s the largest global startup network, Techstars has 8000+ founders, 5000+ mentors, 300+ corporate partners, thousands of investors and 54 programs in 14 countries!

The Kingston Beta Team will select 5 Startup Entrepreneurs from all entries to pitch for 5 minutes to win JMD$300,000 from the Development Bank of Jamaica’s Program for Enhancing Innovation, Growth and Entrepreneurship Ecosystem (BIGEE), as and links to global programs, larger markets, other investors.
Melissa Pegus will also be one of the Kingston Beta/BIGEE Startup Stage guest judges to hear the ball and will be joined by renowned businessman Andrew Pairman, CEO of Anbell Group plus a surprise Community Investor Judge.
NB: All participants must have a Tech-Driven or Tech-Enabled Pre-Seed and Seed Stage Startup and have a 5-minute pitch deck ready.
