Over 1,500 graduates of the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) will receive undergraduate and graduate degrees in the fields of Engineering, Arts, Sports and Education and other program offerings.
UTT will also honor the outstanding contributions of four of this country’s pinnacles in the fields of Community Service, Entrepreneurship, Culture and Music.
Archbishop Charles Jason Gordon, who also works with at-risk communities, non-governmental organizations and the private sector to improve the quality of life for all, will receive an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters.
Langston Roach, innovator, entrepreneur and Executive Chairman of the Langston Roach Group of Companies, will receive an Honorary Doctor of Science.
Annette Nicholson-Alfred, cultural ambassador of Tobago’s unique heritage will become an honorary honorary member.
Desmond Waithe, teacher, musician extraordinaire and master of the national instrument will receive an Honorary Doctor of Letters (posthumously).
The University will also award six Doctor of Philosophy degrees.
The UTT Graduate Presentation Ceremony takes place from 1 to 4 November at the Lord Kitchener Auditorium, National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA), Port-of-Spain.
The President of Trinidad and Tobago and Chancellor of the University, Paula-Mae Weeks, will be in attendance at this year’s ceremony.
