On the third ball of the ball, Mustafizur hit an accurate ball, getting Pandya to get an inside edge on his boards. Pandya, however, was unaware of Parag’s move as he was hurt at delivery and was not looking up.

By the time Pandya looked up, he saw Parag standing next to him at the striker’s end, resulting in both batsmen being on the same crease. Bangladesh had a golden opportunity to finish but what followed was a comedy of errors.

Missed opportunity: Bangladesh’s fielding mistake

Litton attempted an underarm shot towards the bowler’s end, with both Pandya and Parag scrambling frantically to get back to safety. In a surprising twist, Litton’s shot went over the bowler, missing the stumps completely. Najmul Hossain Shantopositioned to support, jumped trying to collect the ball, giving Pandya the chance to bowl safely at the non-striker’s end.

This sequence of events was a glaring example of Bangladesh’s failure in the field which allowed Pandya to continue his innings. The missed opportunity eventually proved costly as India continued to pile on the runs, capitalizing on Bangladesh’s mistakes.
