Tobago Cricket Association (TCA) PRO Marcus Daniel says the Chief Secretary’s Bago T10 Blast will bring much-needed exposure to Tobago cricketers.
The second edition of the tournament takes place from April 9-15 at the Cyd Gray Sports Complex in Roxborough.
“The tournament is a great advertisement for the sport of cricket. The short and exciting nature of T-10 cricket makes it very attractive. The idea is to attract new players to the sport, in line with the strategic plan to develop cricket across the world. island,” said Daniel Information center.
“The involvement of St Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad-based players is another strategic move aimed at Sports Tourism,” he added.
2016 U19 World Cup winner Gidron Pope along with all-rounders Asif Hooper, Rayan Wiliams and Shaman Hooper are the St Vincent and the Grenadines players drafted in the Bago T10 this week.
Trinidad-based players include T&T Red Force captain Imran Khan, Jyd Goolie, Mark Deyal, Terrance Hinds, Khary Pierre, Tion Webster and Jason Mohammed.
Daniel says the tournament will also focus on Tobago’s cricketing talent.
“The T-10 Blast is open to all age groups. The last edition, 14-year-old Jayden Kent cruised to victory for Rainforest Rangers. The tournament is built around exposing Tobago-born players,” said Daniel.
Rainforest Rangers, Buccoo Reef Divers, Little Tobago Islanders and Fort King George Gunners are the teams competing in the event.
The tournament is organized by the Tobago Cricket Association (TCA) and sponsored by the Office of the Chief Secretary, Tobago House of Assembly.
