West Indian American Day Carnival arrives for Labor Day weekend

With the arrival of September, the West Indian America Day Carnival has finally arrived, with some of the festivities already underway.

Artists took to the stage on Thursday, including local celebrity Voice! The event, dubbed ‘Vibes with Voicey’, was at full capacity – something carnival revelers haven’t seen since before the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are bringing one of our biggest events which is vibes with Voicey. It started back in Trinidad in the season of COVID,” said Denzil Flanders, one of the organizers of the event. “We’re here for people to make memories and just have a good time.”

Thursday’s concert is expected to take place in the early hours of the morning, while the parade will take place on Monday.
