West Indies tour Zimbabwe in February

The West Indies will visit Zimbabwe in February 2023, their first Test cricket assignment of the new calendar year.

The teams will play two test matches at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, with the first match scheduled for February 4-8.

The second Test is from February 12-16 and the West Indies will have a match against a home team from January 28-31 at the Bulawayo Athletic Club.

“We are delighted to confirm that the West Indies will visit us for two Test matches to be played in Bulawayo,” said Director of Cricket for Zimbabwe Cricket, Hamilton Masakadza.

“Although it has been a while since we last played Test cricket, our boys will be hungry and ready for some action with the red ball and I believe an exciting series against one of the game’s premier sides is on the cards” , he added.

Zimbabwe last played Test cricket in July 2021 against Bangladesh in Harare.

“The trip to Zimbabwe in early 2023 will be an important part of our 2023 Test programme, which also includes series against South Africa and India,” said CWI Director of Cricket Jimmy Adams.

“Having had some good results at the start of 2022, the team will be keen to start the year with strong performances in Zimbabwe,” said the former Test batsman.

The last time the teams met in Zimbabwe was in October 2017 at the Queens Sports Club.

West Indies won the two-match series 1-0, with a 117-run victory in the First Test.
